Came to Toasted for breakfast after them claiming it's "the best breakfast spot"—unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The food was just okay, nothing memorable, and the portions were surprisingly small for the price. We ordered two breakfast plates (no drinks or sides), and the bill came to nearly $90 with tip. At around $35 per breakfast plate, I expected a lot more in both quality and quantity. Not worth the price, and I won’t be coming back.

Tried this place for breakfast at 10:30am on a Friday. We were seated right away. Your entire party needs to be there to be seated. This place is located right next door to Banbu Sushi. Small parking lot right in front of the restaurant and more parking in the next lot over. Servers were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious, cute, and cozy. There is seating inside and near the open windows (kinda outdoor? Lol) Definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area. Food review: Iced chai latte: (5/5) This was so tasty! It was creamy and had the perfect amount of spice. Wish there wasn't so much ice in it and so little drink. Lavender mimosa: (5/5) presentation so cute! It was refreshing and had amazing flavor. Could drink these all day. Peach Bellini: (4/5) Definitely on the sweeter side, but tasty! Plain Jane: (5/5) This is the perfect classic breakfast. It comes with toast, eggs, sausage, and side of fruit or potatoes. We got bacon on the side too, super delicious! Breakfast Sammy: (5/5) Good sized portion. This sandwich was so tasty! The bun was so soft. They are not stingy with the meat either. Sooo good. It would’ve probably tasted even better with an over easy egg! Smoked brisket melt: (5/5) wow. Wasn’t expecting this to be as tasty as it was. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted and each bite was filled with lots of meat and cheese. Yes! Definitely would order again. Coffee cake pancakes: (5/5) This was the perfect sweet treat for sharing! These are unreal. The flavors mesh well together. This is a huge portion!

This review is for the new Toasted restaurant that replaced Sammy's. I went and was not disappointed. Relaxing inside and outside seating. Their brunch menu has good variety. I especially enjoyed the Elvis French toast. I believe this will be the best brunch spot in all La Mesa. Definitely worth a try.

Okay, so our reservation was at 3 but we got here early and they was able to seat us 30mins early on to a great start. We had a few questions about the menu being that the waitress was new she had little or no answers, understandable. 2 of my friends didn’t like their meal so they sent it back and one of my friends order had a small error it was also sent back. I enjoyed my food really good no problem with it. Service was a bit slow and waitress was struggling a bit. My friend ask multiple times for ketchup and guacamole as well as syrup. Assuming her memory was great plus it’s a few of us no worries I asked as waiter that was walking by due to the fact my friend was not eating bc she was waiting for her condiments. I polite said excuse me sir… no reply then I tried to wave him down. He look straight at me did not acknowledge me and kept walking. Went to go help a table so I brushed it off but then he came back and as I try to ask for the condiments and said he couldn’t hear me rudely and our waitress came back Said he got it and Albert walked away rolling his eyes. So with that being said food in my opinion was great but service was not! And yes I posted this while I’m currently still dining

My husband and I stopped by Toasted for a late brunch. We arrived and stood by the podium with the "wait to be seated" sign by it. Nobody was at the podium so we waited a couple minutes for the host to arrive. A young gentleman greeted us and offered us a table or a booth, we chose a booth. Our server came by and greeted us and took our drink order. We both ordered the bottomless drip coffee and I asked for cream. The coffee was very good, we loved it. I do wish however that they would have flavored creamer available. The server came back and took our food order. I ordered the lobster benny, it came with truffle parmesan potato bites and a roasted tomato. My husband ordered the brisket hash and for an additional fee a side of sourdough bread. My lobster benny was decent but I don't think I'd order it again. There seemed to be an overwhelming lemon taste to the dish but an overall good flavor. The poached eggs were a bit too runny and slimy for my taste. The lobster was barely present in this dish, you could barely tell what was lobster or a diced tomato. I did not even tried the roasted tomato on the plate, as i am not a huge fan of tomatoes. I did however like the potato bites and I would order those again. My husband liked his brisket hash alot and says he would order it again. We both thought the prices were way too high for what you're getting in the dishes. My lobster benedict was about $15 more than the classic benedict they had on the menu and it definitely was not worth the $33 I was charged for it. We had a fiftcard from Christmas to use, otherwise I'm not sure if I would have even tried this place. Also the whole time we were trying to enjoy our food, there was an obnoxiously loud man with his children who kept screaming. The staff didn't even ask him to quiet down or anything. The customer service was mediocre, the server was.not as attentive as we like.
